The Loss Prevention Department's mission is to reduce and eliminate all accidents by establishing, maintaining and improving standards.

Improving Safety Performance workshops (ISP)
Cooperative Job Safety Analysis (JSA): A tool that integrates safety with operating procedures, fosters hazard awareness, removal and/or control, improves on-the-job training and guides accident review.
Proactive Accident Investigations (PAI): A process that engages all employees as problem solvers with a focus on all accidents, costs, causes, and prevention efforts.

Game of Logging (GOL)
A process which promotes awareness of:
Proper chainsaw use
The 5 point felling techniques
Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Lockout/Tagout workshops
A training program that:
Identifies how and when to apply lockout/tagout
Identifies how to verify lockout/tagout has been completed
How to read and understand OSHA's Lockout/Tagout Standard

Hazard Communication workshops
This training program is based on a simple concept - that employees have both a need and a right to know the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to when working. The training program will cover:
The chemicals you deal with
How to read a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
How to protect yourself when dealing with chemicals (PPE)
How to read and understand OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard

Publications
The Planer Truth is an employee-oriented newsletter that is sent to the employee's home four times per year
The Kickback is an employer-oriented newsletter that is sent to the employer's place of business six times per year

Loss Prevention Video Library
Training videos that are available on a loan basis to members of the New York Lumbermen's Insurance Trust Fund.
