A: The benefit for disability is based upon an average
of the 8 weeks of earnings prior to the date of disability.
Total earnings are divided by the 8 weeks worked (less if that
is the case) and multiplied by 50%. The statutory maximum is
$170.
A: It is a record of the disability benefits paid to
an employee during a given period (month or quarter) and shows
the amount withheld from his payments for Social Security and
Medicare taxes. New York Lumbermen's Insurance Trust Fund
deducts the taxes from the claimant's Disability Benefits checks
and pays this amount on a quarterly basis to the government and
the amount shown is to be matched by the employer.
A: The premium for disability is $4 per employee per
month & will be included in the rate charged per $100 of
payroll. Benefits paid under disability have no bearing on your
experience rating.
